Turmeric & Franchipani

30 degrees celsius and good afternoon to the world – what a lovely day and I mean it 🙂 my eyes are itchy, watery and nosy is running like a tap and my lawn looks great. We have been mowing the lawn yesterday, and I’ve weeding most days last week with half tons of snot-tissues by the bucket, it is cleansing process I guess, after all one has to get rid of ones unwanted bodily matters – mucus.

As always, it has been a very productive week, the child at school is doing great (mind you, not my own) and now summer vacation is approaching fast. The graduation was very very good, the first one I’ve ever been attending (though not invited, but, but my [real] dragon is in the band with alto sax, so we invited ourselves). I very much like the speech from Hans Robert Ihle, he is natural scientist I guess, whose graduation was from 15 years ago and was one of the honoured guests for the event. The reception was really good and somehow finger-food running out very fast as there were far too many parents attended, with and without . . . . . . .It’s a good preview for me what my cricket and dragon’s graduation probably look like next year, and the year after.

The dragon is in Barcelona now having a good time, and the cricket has to come home soon before lunch as he could not fight this allergy anymore – is it an allergy? We were having a very hard time yesterday in the garden. I Signed the paper for reception and I took him home.  Anyway, whatever it is I don’t want to take medication about it, a friend suggested Certirizin but I am not feeling comfortable with that. I have been a health freak somewhat 19+ years. The and only chemical I took during these health freak years is Ofloxacin for bladder infection during or prior to exams.

Well, the reason I post turmeric plants here is – it is the turmeric bulb my husband brought from home (I mean Asia). He brought half a kilo with him, we ate them all but three and I put them in compost and there they are. Also another plant, I am post it down here is Franchipani

it is not only from my country – but it is from my very small home town. My high school friend sent the stick to me in February this year, lived in suitcase over 10 days, but then it survived! And I am taking them all to Spain next week, don’t know how and I am not going to worry about it now. I will post another article when they are in our home in Spain.

The garden in Spain is small, nothing impressive but the climate is identical to my country – hot – hot and hot! There are parrots on palm tree at our home and they are the most loveliest, noisiest birds I have ever seen and heard. I have tried to post video clip about the parrots and I haven’t managed it yet, as it is big and I haven’t learned to edit small clips yet. Here in Germany, my best companion is Robin. He/she comes to visit the garden often and every day as I was weeding last week, hopping about and picked his snacks from loose ground that I worked on, very tame for some reasons. Well, I put Peppermint, and two pots of basil into the garden this morning and gave them the remain of my left over green tea and coffee ground.

Long before I know anything to do with coffee and left over tea for plants, I always have big passion for gardening. When I was a small child (not so small – Primary to end high school) we lived in a concrete based home. There was a small hole in the terrace and maintenance was not in my mother occupied mind so, the hole got bigger. And I learned to cook at a very young age, as mother was busy. Well, seeds and others got into the hole and one day either pumpkin or watermelon plants popped out. I was so excited and tried to cover it with sticks so we don’t kick it. My brother was kind and looked for some bamboo sticks and help the plant to go up to the roof – Oh dear, that was when I started talking to plants. As I moved to the city after school, half my heart shrank as again, we lived in concrete blocks – Yes, there are potted plants like Burgenville, but not growing out of soil in the ground. Nursery and library are my favourite places to get lost. When I was at work, there was an out-dated coffee in pot (Oh yes, Europeans do not drink anything out of date, but pumping their bodies with chemicals in stead) and was put in bin so the maid to throw it away. I sneaked it out and poured it in a rose outside the door; I told the guard to gently water my rose, not to splash the back soil over the leaves. I slept well, feeling contented somehow found my way back to plants.

Years went on and once we found ourselves move the office to a deserted huge villa, there were scented-imported coconuts, and trees (Fabaceae) by the entrance – half dead. I spent an average 2hrs daily after work for about six months, kneeling on four scraping and loosening the ground from rubbles, concrete and constructional dumps from the trees base and water them, speaking to them, and kissing the trees. I bought potted roses and went to restaurants and bars begging their throw-away-coffee and tea. People looked at me as if I was an alien, but one small NGO restaurant agreed to give me their coffee providing I collect the rubbish precisely before they closed each day – done! What a pleasure that was, anyone who walked in the office, most stopped to looked at the roses – I mean more than big 5 long pots. My colleagues asked my permission to cut the roses for Valentine’s Day – they enjoyed their dates but the pleasures were all mine 🙂

Well, I left that office a few years ago now and got report from ex colleagues, who saved Franchipani that I planted (more than 5) from the rubbish piles, brought home to me, as the new manager has no affinity to plants and need more parking space, concreting up all available space around the office to keep thing the terrace cleaned during monsoon! Hm, how do they sleep at night? Am I weird? To human maybe, not to plants and birds;

Oh, love the sun ray on my face, birds singing, how lovely life is and I am grateful and thankful to be alive and kicking and writing my crazy-talk-to-self blog. Have a wonderful afternoon and evening dear readers, namaste

(this article is bit too long, as always)

How to sell my vacation time?

Good Sunday afternoon the Universe 🙂

One says, oh, I am on a vacation and that is great; it was great and I loved it. Where? Spain!!!

The Mediterranean Sea I always heard about it, read about it and looked in magazine or on holiday promotion brochure. But the real thing? It is nothing like you looked at in book, or magazine – it is BEAUTIFUL – the Sea, to me it is immense hard to find words to describe it; the mixture of sea, wind, sun, sands, rocks, temperature, waves and those white bits worming along the surface when it is windy and I did not bring my pad with me to take pictures, it was so excited to go to the beach.

We went hiking to see an old volcano bowl (I did not note the name down) and went deeper and deeper into mountain range with no trees only big bushes of palm and desert plants. The sun beat down hard on us, the wind and mountains and the sky, we feel so small and really insignificant but fill with bliss, contentment and just be. We snack on apples (manzana) and water (agua) …… uh, I am going to link this to my book (https://learningtoblog2017.pressbooks.com/chapter/daily-life) with a small video clip from where we stay.  While I am writing this, am waiting for the clip to upload as well.

Small exploration into villages and found nursery with beautiful plants from my country too, Franchipani and Aloe Vera, and Bougenville, seem like they are native plants over there. Does Spain import its plants to Asia and some bits and pieces of its architecture to my country – Cambodia, long long time ago. There is striking similarity of houses and styles, plants and it makes me feel at home 🙂

And these are things to do to integrate with local community I attended  yoga classes at eco centro almeria.com and meditation and my other hobby. If you are in down South of Spain, come and have a look at this place http://www.almeriaaikido.com plenty of beautiful people out there.

And if you are interested in my writing, please go on to my book, which I write my thoughts, with no editing, no plan, just write what comes into mind and it feels good 🙂

I am back home now, sitting in my garden and updating my pages, did not have a single chance when I was on holiday. Have a great afternoon everyone, namaste
